Our individual Wind Panels are designed to capture ground effect winds unlike conventional wind turbines. This allows them to be used in both rural and urban settings. Our panels also use multiple layered aerofoils that work independently from each other to maximise wind energy capture.
Our patented Wind Panels are made up of multiple layers of our aerofoils. Since each of the aerofoils operates individually, energy can be collected in small pockets allowing the Wind Panel to capture wind energy at various wind speeds and directions. These aerofoils are connected to our patented UDSM panels which converges the variable vibrations from wind energy and converts them into electricity.
We are not looking to replace conventional wind turbines and existing solar infratstructures. Instead, we are looking to complement them with the utilisation of turbulent ground-level wind energy. Our 1kW Wind Panel will deliver a levelised cost of energy (LCOE) of just 12p/kWh.
We have just completed our first round of prototype testing in November 2023. We are now planning a new round of testing and installation for 2025, with an anticipated release into the market from 2026 onwards.
Heat is a low-quality form of energy with atoms moving randomly. By capturing and converting them into mechanical vibrations they are transformed into a highly organised form of energy. We can extract this energy efficiently through smaller pockets to capture and provide higher quality power.
Our TVB concept was validated over a two-year period with help from Professor Don McGlinchey and Dr. Gyorgy Lak at Glasgow Caledonian University, under the ETP programme. Under this programme we were able to verify that the concept of the transfer of thermal energy to mechanical vibrations using the bi-fluids in our TVB chamber.
Katrick Technologies has partnered with Energia India to prove heat energy can be converted into fluid vibrations using the bi-fluids concept in our heat engine systems. Their team of design and thermal engineers with over 40 years of experience have produced data to verify that our heat engine can transfer up to 30% of thermal energy to mechanical vibrations in our TVB chamber.
Yes, we own 100% of the IP and the core concept has been fully approved in the UK and we have filed regional patents to cover international protections. We have also applied a foreground IP to help protect both our heat and wind technologies.
Both the core patents are applied based on concept rather than a product. The patents cover a wide area of ventures from powerplants, data centres, heat recovery system, to solar thermal, wind, wave, etc. We have filed foreground IPs on wind and heat and are in the process of applying wave and other energy sources to further strengthen our case.
Since both the concepts were first developed by Katrick, we have the full option to explore and exploit in any sectors possible. We are also working towards applying IPs on machine learning/coding, data acquisition, and sub-product IPs. This will further strengthen the core IPs.
The economics of investing in our heat and wind technology are compelling. They are rare examples of green technology which delivers significant zero carbon energy and are profitable without subsidy. Additionally, the political and regulatory environments will drive demand from manufacturers for products which contribute towards delivering zero carbon outcomes.
Our financial projections are based on a top-down analysis of the market (the data centre market is estimated to be worth $288bn by 2027 and expected to grow beyond this) and tempered by more modest bottom-up assumptions on the speed and scale of the rollout. We have also made modest assumptions about the deployment of technology over the period to 2025.
Comparably, our license and royalty’s income are calculated based on a modest percentage of the value of the underlying plant. 11% for the heat engine to reflect that it is a more complex and profitable product installation and 5% for the wind panel which is a simpler mass production product manufacture and deploy.
We are projecting that Katrick will achieve a margin of over 50% by 2025 based on the roll out described above.
The energy created by heat and wind is highly dissipated. With the use of our UDSM concept this form of energy is captured, then converged into mechanical vibrations, and converted into high quality electricity.
We are currently in discussions with several different enterprises for deployment. Most recently, discussions have occurred between a major UK plc-based data centre provider, and two Scottish airports. We are working to have our Wind Panel technology installed by the end of 2024.
No, we are an IP based business and will licence and supply design services for our technology out to manufacturers. This allows for us to focus on high value relationships and gives us the ability to launch simultaneous deployments across sectors and geographies.
Vibration to power is a known process which has been in use for over a century. When you talk over your phone, the sound (which is a form of vibration) is captured by the microphone and converted to electricity.
But all the vibration energy devices use point-based conversions. With our UDSM panels Katrick Technologies has developed a multi-point conversion system. Vibrations are captured from a given surface area, converged to its focal point, and converted to energy. This system allows for more energy to be converged from various points. Using UDSM panels, we can now create a high energy vibration energy device that can be applied to heat, wind, wave, and more.
